Coempt Edu Teck, the Hyderabad-based entity involved in the controversial CBSE On Screen Marking System, has denied all allegations against the company. In a clarification, the company has ruled out any software or technological glitch behind recent complaints.

Referring to the case where a student got answer sheet of another candidate, the company said it was an operational mistake during the scanning process. "We have identified the location and the individual who did this scanning. This particular incident was purely manual scanning process. Technologically, we have made sure there is no mistake in the process," said Coempt Edu Teck.

This clarification was given after students registered their complaints over access to scanned answer sheets of CBSE examinations. They also raised questions over the quality of scanned images of answer sheets via OSM portal.

Coempt Edu Teck has clarified over the issue of blurred and poor quality images of answers. The firm said it is investigating such cases along with evaluation authorities. It has denied allegations of changing tender rules in order to incorporate low-grade scanners. The company also clarified that it uses normal industry-grade scanners every year. Further, it added that scanner's resolutions are perfect.

The firm also informed that scanned answer sheets have been delivered to nearly 95 per cent of students who requested it. "Only isolated incidents have been reported," it said.

Regarding the complaint filed by 19-year-old ethical hacker about some loopholes in its software systems, Coempt said, the hacker just tried to check its testing server, which doesn't have live data. "The testing server had some dummy tests. It is internally used by us. There is no access control of any sort. It has no private student data or any main technology," the firm explained.

Regarding a controversy of 2019 where it provided flawed scanning service to the Telangana Intermediate exam, it said it was thoroughly investigated by courts. Coempt Edu Teck said the Supreme Court rejected all the petitions requesting mass revaluation, compensation to the students, and filing of cases against it.

Coempt Edu Teck currently works with more than 35 universities in India and offers examination services such as digitisation, OSM, AI-assisted evaluation, and question paper management.
