CBSE Date Sheet 2025 : Upcoming Class 10, 12 Board Exam Schedule; Check Latest Updates & More

CBSE will release the Class 10 and 12 exam date sheets for 2024 on its official website in December. Recently, CBSE shared the practical exam schedule, providing essential details for students and schools preparing for board exams.

Practical exams for most schools start on January 1, 2025, while theory exams begin on February 15, 2025. In winter regions, practical exams will be held from November 5 to December 5, 2024.

CBSE also issued guidelines for conducting practical exams, project work, and internal assessments in schools in winter regions, which will remain closed in January. Additionally, CBSE provided subject-wise marks distribution for Class 10 and 12, urging schools to review this information carefully. Once practical marks are submitted, they cannot be changed, so accuracy is very important.

To ensure smooth practical and theory exams, CBSE released a list of subjects for each class. This list includes subject codes, names, maximum marks for theory and practicals, project assessments, internal assessments, and the type of answer sheet needed for theory exams. Schools are advised to follow these guidelines closely to avoid any issues during exams.

Sample question papers for the final exams of Classes 10 and 12 are available on the CBSE academic website (cbseacademic.nic.in). These sample papers are great for students to practice, as they provide information about the marking scheme, exam format, and types of questions expected in the exams.

CBSE Date Sheet 2025: New Competency-Based Exam Pattern

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the CBSE 2025 exam pattern has changed to focus more on understanding than memorization. This new pattern includes more competency-based questions that test students’ ability to apply concepts in real-life situations.

For Class 10, 50% of questions will be competency-based, similar to previous years. In Class 12, competency-based questions will increase from 40% to 50% in 2025. These questions will come in various forms, such as multiple-choice questions (MCQs), case-based questions, and source-based questions.

With this updated 2025 exam structure, there will be fewer questions based on memorization, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of their subjects. Consequently, there will be a slight reduction in short- and long-answer questions in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams.
