CBSE Issues Advisory: QR Codes in Question Papers Misinterpretation - Details Here
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official advisory regarding misleading information circulating about the QR codes printed on its question papers.
The Board has clarified that these QR codes are being misinterpreted and linked to unrelated online content.
What Are These QR Codes Actually For?
According to an advisory signed by the Controller of Examinations, Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the QR codes present on CBSE question papers are not internet links. These are part of CBSE's internal systems, utilized for authentication, tracking, and maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
Simply put, these codes are not designed to be scanned and opened as web links. When scanned, they display specific text rather than a website.
Why Are People Getting Confused?
This is where the confusion begins. If an individual extracts text from a QR code and manually searches for it on Google, the search engine may suggest unrelated terms or display irrelevant results. This does not occur when using standard browsers such as Chrome.
The CBSE has clarified that certain individuals are deliberately misrepresenting these unrelated search results to disseminate misinformation and tarnish the Board's image. The Board has further clarified that such search results are entirely algorithm-driven and bear no connection whatsoever to the CBSE or its examination processes.
CBSE's Message to Students, Parents, and Media
CBSE has urged everyone - students, parents, teachers, and media platforms - to do the following:
- Stop sharing unverified claims about the QR codes
- Verify any information through official CBSE channels before sharing it
- Avoid amplifying content that could damage the credibility of the board
The board has stressed that linking these QR codes to unrelated individuals or content is factually wrong and misleading.
What Should You Do?
If you come across any post or claim that links CBSE's QR code to an unrelated individual or website, do not share it. Always verify such information against CBSE's official website or communications before trusting it or forwarding it further.
CBSE has clarified that sharing information responsibly is everyone's duty, and spreading misinformation regarding board examinations can lead to serious consequences for both students and institutions.
