CBSE is working with the British Council to create a new plan for internal assessments in science for Classes 6 to 12. This plan is meant to fix problems like uneven and inflated marks in these assessments, according to a recent board meeting.
To keep exams fair and avoid issues, CBSE is also thinking about using CCTV cameras in classrooms during board exams.
CBSE will also set up a new system to check and maintain standards. Officials will hold workshops for school leaders to make sure internal assessments are fair and clear. This will help with problems like unequal education and students losing interest.
The new internal assessment plan will follow the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) and the Holistic Progress Cards, which align school report cards with NCFSE.
About the CCTV recordings, the board said that exams could be disrupted by people with bad intentions. These recordings will help manage exams better.
The plan includes installing CCTV cameras in classrooms, with CBSE covering part of the cost. A data bank at CBSE headquarters will store recordings from each exam day, uploaded through a web link.
This will start with the 2025 exams. A committee will check the infrastructure, IT system, and data handling. At first, 30% of centres in a region may take part, with plans to include all centres later.
