The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an advisory to all affiliated schools, warning that the circulation of counterfeit NCERT textbooks being sold at discounted prices by unauthorized sellers continues.

In a circular, the board stated that many unauthorized booksellers are distributing counterfeit versions of NCERT textbooks, which are of poor quality and often contain printing and content errors. The CBSE cautioned that such errors can harm students' learning experience.

Schools have been instructed to encourage parents to purchase genuine NCERT textbooks only from authorized sources. The circular, signed by CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, states, "Schools should purchase NCERT books only through the channels notified by the CBSE and NCERT from time to time."

The CBSE has identified the following official sources for genuine NCERT textbooks:

NCERT's Regional Production and Distribution Centers (RPDCs). These are located in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Kolkata, and Delhi.
The list of authorized vendors is available on the NCERT website - www.ncert.nic.in.
NCERT's Postal Supply Service through the official portal.

The Board has also provided contact details of Regional Development Commissioners (RPDCs) for schools and parents seeking assistance. Schools have been instructed to disseminate this advisory among teachers, parents, and students to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of the teaching materials.

The CBSE stated in its notice that only genuine textbooks are essential to maintain educational quality and prevent students from being misled by incorrect or poorly printed study materials.
