Karnataka Cancels SSLC, PUC Supplementary Exams - to Conduct 3 Annual Board Exams
Karnataka has introduced yet another significant education reform. In this latest development, the state government has decided to discontinue the Supplementary exams for SSLC and PUC students. Instead, students will participate in three annual exams, a move aimed at alleviating the examination pressure they face.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) have officially announced the discontinuation of Supplementary exams starting from the academic year 2023-24.
A notable feature of this new examination system is that students will have the privilege of retaining the highest scores obtained across all three annual exams.
Under the previous examination system, students had one annual exam and one supplementary exam. KSEAB has undertaken this change to provide students with improved opportunities.
By relabeling the "Supplementary Examination" as "Annual Examination 1, 2, and 3," the students are offered three chances, fostering overall performance and cultivating a positive approach, as stated in the official notice.
These three annual examinations will be conducted by the Board, adhering to comprehensive guidelines issued by the government. KSEAB will soon issue guidelines for the revised system, focusing on maintaining uniformity in content and difficulty levels.
Furthermore, students will have the flexibility to select the subject-wise best score from among their results in these three attempts.
Additionally, for students who enroll in their subsequent academic courses later, whether in PUC or degree colleges, a bridge course will be provided to compensate for any missed classes during the initial month.
