Karnataka Board Annual Exams for Class 5, 8, 9, and 11; Boards for Class 10th and 12th Students
The Karnataka government has issued a mandate for annual examinations in the 2023-24 academic year for students in Classes 5, 8, 9, and first PUC (Class 11). However, board exams will only be conducted for students in Class 10 and Class 12. It's important to note that the annual exams for Class 5, 8, 9, and first PUC will be applicable exclusively to institutions following the state board syllabus.
In contrast to the Class 10 and 12 board exams, the evaluation for the annual examinations in Class 9 and 11 will occur at the school and college levels, respectively.
This initiative follows last year's introduction of annual examinations for Class 5 and Class 8 by the Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board. These annual exams will continue for the current academic year.
Additionally, the Karnataka board has implemented changes to its exam pattern. Recently, it introduced the 'three-board exam rule,' requiring students to appear for three board exams, with only the best score considered. Furthermore, the board has eliminated supplementary exams.
These reforms are designed to provide students with more opportunities to enhance their board exam scores by retaining the highest marks obtained in the first, second, and third exams.
