NEET UG 2026: 120 of 410 Questions Match Leaked 'Guess Paper', NTA Orders Probe
NEET UG 2026: The SOG of Rajasthan has launched an inquiry into the NEET UG 2026 exam in light of the discovery of a 'guess question paper' that contains 120 questions very similar to those asked in the official examination. This development has put the medical exam, conducted on May 3, under scrutiny.
Speaking in Jaipur, ADGP Vishal Bansal said the guess paper had 410 questions, out of which around 120 chemistry questions appeared in the exam. The paper was reportedly with students nearly a month before the test.
"It's a PDF file of about 150 pages with over 400 questions. We're moving step by step. It's a long and painful process," Bansal said. The PDF was found on WhatsApp on students' phones.
A Tricky Case
Since the paper was already public, tracing the source isn't easy. The SOG is now checking whether actual cheating happened or if it was just a coincidence. A person from Dehradun is being questioned.
Bansal added that real paper leak mafias usually work in secret — not by sharing papers openly.
NTA's Response
The National Testing Agency (NTA) said it stands by the integrity of the exam and is fully cooperating with the agencies.
"The NTA is cognizant of the concerns arising from such reports. We request candidates to allow the agencies sufficient time to complete their work. Necessary steps will be taken at the appropriate time, in consultation with the Ministry of Education," the agency stated.
"The effort and integrity of the very large majority of bona-fide aspirants is not in question, and will not be devalued."
The NTA also stated that it would not form any preconceived opinions regarding the investigation. Any information received by the agencies will be examined in a transparent manner and shared in accordance with standard procedures.
Timeline of the Probe
It said that on the late evening of May 7, 2026, four days after the examination, it received inputs concerning alleged malpractice activity around the examination. “These inputs were escalated by NTA to central agencies on the morning of May 8 for independent verification and necessary action.
The action subsequently undertaken by the law enforcement agencies, including the detentions reported in the media over recent days, is the result of their professional and timely work,” it said.
Security Measures During NEET UG 2026
