NEET UG 2026 Cut-Off Prediction: Expert Analysis for Government Medical College Seats

NEET UG 2026 Cut-Off Prediction: Expert Analysis for Government Medical College Seats

The NEET UG 2026 re-test conducted on June 21 might be good news for aspiring doctors. Experts now claim that there will be a slightly lesser cut-off than expected. The cut-off for General category for Government MBBS seats through All India Quota (AIQ) could lie somewhere between 590-600 marks based on the paper analysis conducted by experts and coaching institutions.

Such a statement is based on the fact that according to experts, the re-test paper was a bit tougher compared to the original NEET UG 2026 paper especially in Physics and Chemistry subjects.

Paper analysis reports suggest that Physics was the toughest as well as the longest subject. Many questions needed lengthy calculation and involved more than one steps.

Chemistry was also tough but not as much as Physics, particularly the physical chemistry where many numerical questions were asked.

On the contrary, Biology remained the easiest section for aspirants. Almost all questions in Biology were straightforward and were directly taken from NCERT books.

Experts think that easy Biology section proved helpful in scoring marks. However, tough Physics and Chemistry sections would result in low scores.

According to Keshav Agarwal, an educationist and career coach, and founder of Exemplar Point, any student with 580 marks or above is likely to secure a government medical seat.

NEET UG 2026: Qualifying Cut-Off May Also Drop

Experts have projected the NEET UG 2026 qualifying cut-off for the General category at 132–140 marks. That's down from 137 marks in NEET 2025. The main reason is the tougher Physics section.

Here's the expected qualifying cut-off across categories:

Category NEET 2025 (Actual) Re-NEET 2026 (Expected)
General (UR) 137 132–140
EWS 121 115–122
OBC-NCL 121 115–122
SC 107 103–109
ST 107 103–109
PH – UR 121 115–122
PH – SC/ST 107 103–108

The Infographic above has the complete details regarding the NEET UG 2026 Expected Cut-offs. It is based on paper analysis, NTA 2025 data and reports by experts of Exemplar Point and Aakash AESL. In addition to the qualifying marks, it also mentions the expected AIQ ranks for each category and the score-to-outcome table. The bottom line is quite simple, Biology was scoring and easy, while Physics and Chemistry required good calculation.

In spite of that, the top scores by coaching institutes is around 715 marks. It is not as good as the ideal 720 score seen in previous years. This means that the best students have also faced tough times with Physics.

The final cut-off will be known only after the results are declared. However, current analysis suggests that the government MBBS cut-off is likely to be around 590-600 marks, while Physics will determine the rank this time.
