Qualifying marks is 50th percentile. There is a difference between percentile and percentage. Hence, you have to score better than 50% of the total aspirants who took part in the test. This mark, qualifying marks, changes every year, ranging typically from 150 to 200. Please note that a mere scoring of these marks, i.e., 150-200 is not a good score at all.

This is the minimum score in NEET that students must clear to qualify NEET. Since NEET is an exceptionally competitive test, one must score above 650 marks to get admitted to reputed MBBS colleges in the country.

NEET Tie-Breaking Policy of Last Year

The tie-breaking policy comes in handy when two or more aspirants have secured the same rank. It helps in breaking the deadlock. Until last year, the NEET tie-breaking policy comprised of only three factors that can be termed as follows:

  1. Candidate securing higher percentile score/ marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
  2. Aspirants securing higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test
  3. If the above criteria are not fulfilled, then applicants with number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all subjects will be given priority over the others.
