Today, the supreme court of India will hear a petition for cancellation of class 10 and class 12 board exams conducted by the CBSE, CISCE, NIOS, and other state boards.
A bench headed by justice AM Khanwilkar on Tuesday ordered that an advance copy of the petition be served to the lawyer who is appointed for representing.
The counsel, appearing for petitioner Anubha Shrivastava Sahai, stated the matter and requested the heading bench to list it for urgent hearing.
The plea has sought directions to the CBSE and state education boards, which have proposed to hold offline board examinations for classes 10 and 12 for preparing alternative methods of assessment, considering suffered faced by students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the previous year, almost all state and central boards had to cancel the board examination of classes 10, 12 due to the second wave of COVID-19.
The boards had to follow the alternative methods of evaluation for board candidates so that they can take admission in the further classes.
After following the alternative methods the board last year made some changes in the exam pattern and decided to conduct the CBSE Class 10, 12 board examinations in two terms. Term 1 exam has already been conducted and term 2 exams are scheduled to be held in April, 2022.
