NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NMC Bars MBBS Student Leave on June 20-21

National Medical Commission (NMC) has instructed all medical colleges and institutes under its jurisdiction that they must not give leave to students on June 20 and 21, barring any extraordinary situations. This is because NEET-UG 2026 Re Exam will take place on June 21.

As per a notice released by the NMC on June 18, the Commission took this decision following a request from the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education.

"The purpose of this decision is to prevent any kind of misuse and to facilitate the smooth conduct of the exam," says the notice.

The NMC has asked medical colleges to remain vigilant and caution their students not to indulge in any activity that would threaten the sanctity and integrity of the examination process.

"In the past, some instances came to light where students of medical colleges were involved in activities which compromised the sanctity and integrity of the examination process," said the notice.

This notice has been issued in response to a letter written by Dr Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education to the Health Ministry on June 13. In this letter, the Department of Higher Education requested to give proper instructions to all medical colleges regarding NEET-UG 2026 Re Exam.

The objective behind it was that no student indulges in any activity which may adversely affect the conduct of the examination.

The Health Ministry had also sought the cooperation of the Health Ministry and medical institutions in ensuring the conduct of NEET-UG Re Exam in a smooth manner.

Similar instructions were given before the original NEET-UG 2026 exam on May 3. Authorities had then instructed medical colleges to keep a tab on the activities of their students and not to give them leave at the time of the exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET-UG 2026 Re Exam on June 21.
