10,107 Women Qualify JEE Advanced 2026: Highest Number in 6 Years
The number of women candidates qualifying for JEE Advanced 2026 has crossed 10,000 for the first time in six years. This information has been provided in the Joint Implementation Committee report that was presented by IIT Roorkee.
As per the report, 43,112 female candidates registered for JEE Advanced 2026 that is organized for admission to undergraduate courses at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other institutes.
Out of the total, 40,562 appeared for both the papers and 10,107 qualified. The qualification rate for the registered female candidates improved to 23.4% in 2026 from 21.7% in 2025.
The highest scoring woman candidate scored 280 marks consisting of 101 in Mathematics, 86 in Physics and 93 in Chemistry. Her All India Rank stood at 77.
Out of the 3,814 women candidates who were allocated the seats, 37 students managed to get a seat through the gender-neutral quota. As per the report, 3,814 female-only seats, including female supernumerary seats, have been allocated in 2026.
JEE Advanced 2026: Overall Candidate Statistics
JEE Advanced 2026 was conducted on May 17 in two sessions. A total of 1,87,389 candidates registered for the examination.

JEE Advanced 2026 Category-Wise Qualification Trends
There are also variations witnessed on the number and qualification rates of candidates from various categories.
The number of general category candidates qualifying for JEE advanced reduced from 16,154 in 2025 to 15,883 in 2026. The qualification rate also reduced from 43% to 39.8%.
The qualification rates of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) increased considerably. In 2026, there were 15,856 qualified SC candidates and 6,379 qualified ST candidates, compared to 12,499 qualified SC candidates and 5,008 qualified ST candidates in 2025.
The number of EWS candidates qualifying increased marginally, rising from 6,291 in 2025 to 6,377 in 2026.
In the case of OBC-NCL candidates, the qualification rate reduced from 18.2% to 17.5%. The number of qualified candidates reduced from 12,606 in 2025 to 12,385 in 2026.
JEE Advanced 2026: Qualifying Criteria Relaxed
According to the report, among the 2,50,000 top candidates from JEE Main 2026, a shortlist was to be made for JEE Advanced 2026.
However, due to percentile bunching, the final number of candidates who became eligible from JEE Main 2026 is 2,50,174, including 394 foreign students and 2,058 OCI/PIO students.
According to the report, the qualifying criteria were made easier in such a way that at least twice the number of candidates, relative to the available seats, would be qualified.
JEE Advanced 2026: IIT-Wise Seat Allotment
The highest number of seats were allotted at IIT Kharagpur, followed by IIT BHU, IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee.

The JEE Advanced 2026 report shows a significant rise in the number of women qualifying for the examination. With 10,107 women candidates qualifying, 2026 recorded the highest number of female qualifiers in six years.
