CBSE 12th Chemistry Exam Analysis 2026

Student and Expert Feedback (Initial Reaction)

As per the initial students’ feedback, the overall difficulty level of the Chemistry paper was easy. The section A and B had direct NCERT-based questions. Meanwhile, application-based numericals were a little tricky. The newly introduced competency-based questions tested the conceptual understanding and required multi-step calculations.

Branch-wise Level of Difficulty

The chemistry syllabus is divided into three main branches, i.e. Physical chemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. Students can check the branch-wise difficulty level below:

Branch Level of Difficulty
Physical Chemistry Easy but lengthy
Organic Chemistry Moderate
Inorganic Chemistry Easy

Section-wise Difficulty Level

The class 12 CBSE Chemistry question paper 2026 was divided in 5 sections. The section-wise difficulty level is provided below:

Section

Level of Difficulty

Section A

Easy to moderate

Section B

Easy

Section C

Easy

Section D

Moderate and time-consuming

Section E

Moderate

CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Overall Difficulty Level Assessment

Section / Aspect

Difficulty

Key Highlights

Overall

Moderate

Well-balanced, student-friendly, and strictly NCERT-aligned.

Physical Chemistry

Moderate & Numerical-heavy

Required accurate formula application and clear step-by-step calculations (e.g., Electrochemistry, Kinetics).

Organic & Inorganic

Easy to Moderate

Direct naming reactions and straightforward conversions; Inorganic reasoning questions required clear conceptual knowledge.

MCQs (Section A)

Moderately Tricky

Concept-driven; tested deep understanding of NCERT lines and logical reasoning.

Case-Study / Subjective Qs

Easy to Moderate

Straightforward and completely syllabus-based; case studies tested application of core concepts.

Time Management

Manageable

Numericals consumed some time, but unlike Accountancy, the overall paper was easily completable within the 3 hours.
