CBSE OSM System in Trouble: IIT Madras Sends Technical Team to Probe, Check Full Details
Amidst growing complaints from students and parents regarding technical glitches on the CBSE post-result services portal, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has directed a team comprising professorsa and technical experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and IIT Kanpur to assist the Board, ensuring that the re-evaluation process is conducted in a smooth and error-free manner.
The Union Education Minister has also sought support from the Union Finance Minister to improve the CBSE payment gateway system, while four public sector banks will assist the Board in strengthening and streamlining its payment gateway infrastructure.
This intervention comes after numerous students reported difficulties in accessing the Central Board of Secondary Education's online post-examination services—including applications for marks verification, obtaining photocopies of answer sheets, and submitting re-evaluation requests—following the announcement of the Class 10 and 12 board results earlier this month.
According to officials, the team of professors and technical experts from IIT Madras will investigate all technical glitches that have surfaced since the launch of this year's post-result services. The experts have been tasked with implementing targeted technical improvements within the systems and technical workflows associated with the portal.
Specifically, this team will assess the portal's stability, server performance, and the robustness of the overall IT infrastructure. Additionally, it will assist the Central Board of Secondary Education in identifying and rectifying issues related to login authentication, user access systems, and the payment gateway—problems that students have highlighted over the past few days.
According to sources, the Ministry of Education intervened after concerns mounted following repeated complaints from candidates facing difficulties in accessing these services within the stipulated deadlines. Many students and parents had also taken to social media to raise issues such as login failures, payment transaction failures, and delays in accessing the application window for re-evaluation services.
This development is significant given that, every year following the board examinations, hundreds of thousands of students apply for these post-result services. The online system is considered crucial for ensuring transparency in the evaluation process and for enabling students to seek clarifications or corrections in the event of any discrepancies in their marks.
Pradhan reiterated that the interests of students are paramount and directed the CBSE to undertake all necessary corrective measures on a priority basis to ensure a "transparent, efficient, and student-friendly system."
This latest intervention comes at a time when examination-related processes are under intense public scrutiny, and officials are emphasizing the need for robust digital infrastructure and seamless student services within national-level educational bodies.
