JEE Advanced 2026: IISc Bengaluru Launches 3 New B.Tech Programs - Complete Details
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has announced the launch of three new undergraduate programs in the engineering discipline from the 2026-27 academic session.
The three newly launched programs are B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, B.Tech in Mechanics and Computing, and B.Tech in Materials Science and Engineering. These will join the existing B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing program.
With this expansion, IISc — historically known as a leader in postgraduate research — is now making a significant move toward building a broader undergraduate engineering ecosystem focused on producing "research-engineers" for global innovation.

“These programs integrate strong theoretical foundations, hands-on research exposure, and industry-relevant skills, enabling graduates to secure high-quality placements in leading technology organisations and pursue research or higher studies" - Reads the IISc Bengaluru official statement for the launch of courses.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their ranks in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced. Interested candidates have to qualify JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced 2026 for admission to BTech programs in IISc Bengaluru.
The institute is already running a BTech course in the Mathematics and Computing discipline.
How to Get Admission to IISc B.Tech 2026: Step-by-Step
- Step 1: Appear for JEE Main 2026 (Session 1 or Session 2).
- Step 2: Qualify among the top 2,50,000 candidates to become eligible for JEE Advanced.
- Step 3: Appear for JEE Advanced 2026 on May 17, 2026.
- Step 4: Register on the JoSAA 2026 portal after results are declared.
- Step 5: Select IISc B.Tech programs during the choice-filling process.
- Step 6: Seat allocation will be based on your JEE Advanced All India Rank.
- Step 7: Accept the allotted seat and complete the admission process.
Admission to all three newly launched programs and the one already running course will be done through JoSAA counselling. It is mandatory for the candidates to register, fill choices through the official JoSAA 2026 online portal for admission to BTech programs at IISc. No separate application is required to be submitted on the IISc admission portal for BTech admissions.
JEE Advanced 2026 exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 17, 2026. Only those candidates who qualify NTA JEE Mains exam can appear in IIT JEE Adv 2026. The first session of JEE Main 2026 is already over, conducted on January. The second attempt will be conducted from April 2 to 9, 2026.
