The first session of JEE Main 2024, conducted by NTA from January 24 to February 1, witnessed the participation of 11,70,036 candidates out of the 12,21,615 who registered for JEE Main paper 1.
Comparatively, in the previous year, 43 candidates secured a 100 percentile in the overall merit list (considering sessions 1 and 2). Remarkably, only one girl, Ridhi Kamlesh Kumar Maheshwari from Karnataka, achieved this feat. Among the 43 top scorers, 11 were from Telangana, with Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan following with five each. Uttar Pradesh had four, while Gujarat and Karnataka had three each. Delhi and Maharashtra each had two, and one each from Haryana, Chandigarh, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
For general category candidates, the JEE Advanced 2023 cutoff was 90.77, showing an increase from 88.4 in 2022 and 87.9 in 2021. Qualifying scores for general candidates were 90.3 and 89.7 in 2020 and 2019, respectively.
To ensure fair evaluation, NTA will employ a normalization process for JEE Main 2024 results. This process accounts for variations in difficulty levels across multiple days and sessions, preventing any candidate from gaining an unfair advantage or disadvantage. NTA will rank students based on percentile scores, calculated using a predetermined formula.
