Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued an official notification postponing the bi-annual private examination of class 10 and class 11 to be held on 27 August 2025.

This decision has been taken in view of the continuous heavy rains, flood-like situation in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the warning of the Meteorological Department.

Why was the JKBOSE exam postponed?

It has been raining continuously in Jammu and Kashmir for the last few days, due to which the risk of floods has increased in many areas. The water level of Basantar, Tawi and Chenab rivers has already reached the warning level. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains for the next 40 hours. In such a situation, keeping in mind the safety of the students, JKBOSE has decided to postpone the examinations.

What was said in the official notification?

JKBOSE has said in its notice:

"The examinations of Secondary School Examination (Class 10) and Higher Secondary Examination Part 1 (Class 11), Session Annual (Private)/Bi-Annual 2025 to be held on 27-08-2025 (Wednesday) are postponed for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The revised exam dates will be announced soon."

This means that students have to keep an eye on the official website and notifications of JKBOSE for the new date sheet.

Schools and colleges also closed due to heavy rains

In view of the bad weather conditions, the Jammu and Kashmir government has issued an order to close all schools, colleges and government offices (except essential services). This is the third consecutive day in Jammu division when schools remained closed.
