The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell has announced that MHT CET 2026 will be held twice a year. Students seeking admission to the 2026-27 academic session can take both exam attempts between March and May 2026.
The Higher and Technical Education Department has approved this new format. Students can choose to appear for both sessions or just one, depending on their preference. From the 2027-28 academic session onwards, the two attempts will be scheduled over a longer period, similar to how JEE Mains is currently conducted.
The CET Cell will also introduce this twice-a-year format for MBA/MMS entrance exams along with engineering courses. However, the official notification for this change is yet to be released.
Every year, around 6 lakh students appear for MHT CET to secure admission in engineering and pharmacy programs. For MBA/MMS courses, approximately 1 lakh candidates take the exam. This new two-attempt system will benefit all these students significantly.
The dual-attempt format gives students a valuable second chance. If they don't perform well in the first attempt, they can improve their scores in the second one.
The notification for MHT CET and MAH MBA CET is expected to come out in December. Application forms will be available as soon as the notification is released.
