MHT CET 2027 Exam Centre Allotment: District Choice May End, New PIN Code Rule Expected

Maharashtra CET Cell is considering changes in regard to the distribution of exam centers in the MHT CET 2027 examination. According to the new rules, candidates will no longer have the choice of choosing an examination center of their choice while filling up the MHT CET 2027 application form. Examination centers can be allotted to candidates depending on the PIN code of the college which the candidates join for Class 12th studies.

The above mentioned change has been suggested as part of a new SOP that is being drafted by the Maharashtra CET Cell. The aim is to improve security in the examination and increase transparency so as to eliminate any malpractices in the assessment procedure. As of now, the new rules for MHT CET 2027 examination centers have not been approved yet.

MHT CET 2027 Exam Centre Allotment: What Are the Proposed Changes?

With regard to the suggested MHT CET 2027 Examination Centre allotment process, students will be denied the chance to choose their preferable examination district while filling out the application form.

Rather than this, the CET Cell plans on allotting the examination centers based on the PIN code of the candidate’s Class 12 College. As such, the place of the higher secondary college attended by the student can dictate the examination center allotted to him or her.

To illustrate, suppose that a student studies Class 12 at a college situated in Pune; the PIN code of this college would be used in determining the place of the allotted examination center.

However, this is just a suggestion. The Maharashtra CET Cell is currently working on coming up with a new SOP to be approved by the Higher and Technical Education Department.

Why Is MHT CET 2027 Considering New Exam Centre Rules?

The Maharashtra CET Cell is analyzing a new allocation scheme for MHT CET examination centers with the following objectives: improving the security and transparency of the examination process.

Through the linkage of examination center allocation with the Class 12 college PIN number, it is hoped that center administration and candidate distribution will be made optimal.

Furthermore, the new scheme is intended to prevent examination malpractice.

However, it must be noted that the new guidelines will depend on the approval of the concerned authorities.

MHT CET 2027: Will Candidates Be Able to Choose Their Exam District?

Currently, the Maharashtra CET Cell has not officially scrapped the district choice option for the registration of MHT CET 2027.

There is a plan by the authorities to replace the existing district choice criterion for the selection of exam centers with a criterion that will use the PIN code of the applicant.

In case the above proposal gets the green signal, then the applicants may not have the right to choose their own exam center. In such a case, the pin code of the college in which class 12 was passed will be used.

For the preparation of MHT CET 2027, applicants must refer to the official brochure and notification.

MHT CET 2027 Exam Centre: How Did the Previous System Work?

Previously, in the MHT CET examinations, candidates were allowed to mention the examination centre preferences at the time of applying for the examination.

According to the brochure for MHT CET 2024, candidates would be able to mention their preferences of the examination centres, but ultimately, the decision on the allotment of the examination centres would lie with the Maharashtra CET Cell.

The policy of examination centres for MHT CET 2027 might change the whole system. Instead of assigning the centres as per the district preferences of the candidates, the CET Cell will allocate the centres as per the PIN codes of the Class 12 colleges of the applicants.
