NCERT Online Science Teaching Diploma: 40-Week Course Registration Begins October 12
NCERT has released that there is a 40-week long online Diploma Course in Teaching of Science at Middle Stage (Classes 6-8) for the academic year 2026-27. This course is meant for in-service teachers and pre-service teachers and all other persons involved in Science education.
Registration for the upcoming batch will start from October 12, 2026 and will continue till November 12, 2026 on the learning platform NCERTX at ncertx.in.
This programme is meant for Science teachers teaching in Class 6 to 8 as a MOOC. Multimedia and Interactive learning material will be there. It is meant to assist learners in understanding basic concepts and developing an understanding of the subject gradually.
Course materials can also assist the teachers in conducting classroom activities such as lesson planning and explaining concepts of Science to the students. As this programme is online, the enrolled participants will have access to it through their registered accounts.
NCERT Science Teaching Diploma: Who Can Apply?
Applicants eligible for application based on one of the criteria below will be eligible for the course:
- Applicants having a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.
- In-service teachers teaching Science to Class 6 to Class 8.
- Applicants with a diploma or degree in education.
- Prospective teachers applying for a diploma or degree in education.
- Others who are directly connected with Science teaching.
But the course is not a requirement for teacher appointment. NCERT has clarified that the course is purely academic and is not comparable to other qualification needed for the appointment of a teacher.
NCERT Science Teaching Diploma: Fee and Enrolment
The fee for enrolling into the course is ₹2,000 and there is no additional fee mentioned. The payment must be done online.
Once the payment is completed, candidates will get an invitation email from NCERTX in about a week's time. It will have instructions on how to complete the enrolment process.
It is advisable to use the same email ID while paying and enrolling into the course.
NCERT Online Science Diploma 2026-27: Course Schedule
The class will commence on November 16, 2026, and will likely end on August 31, 2027.
The programme consists of 40 modules. One new module will be released every Monday and it is anticipated that it will take six to eight hours to complete each module.

NCERT Science Teaching Diploma: Assessment and Certification
An objective end-of-module test will be conducted in each of the 40 modules. The period allotted for taking the tests will be 15 days.
Those candidates who successfully complete all 40 modules and attend all 40 module tests will become eligible for taking the final test. The final test will be a timed test, and the date for the same will be communicated separately.
Successful completion of the course entitles candidates to receive an e-certificate on “Teaching of Science at Middle Stage” by NCERT.
The programme is available online through a laptop/desktop having internet facility.
