NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NTA Guidelines on Fee Refund, City Change & Key Dates
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a detailed document containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for candidates appearing in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
Following the cancellation of the NEET UG examination—originally held on May 3—amidst a paper leak controversy, the agency has clarified issues regarding fee refunds, changes to examination cities, examination centers, the medium of examination, and timelines.
The NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted in a pen-and-paper mode on June 21, 2026 (Sunday), from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM at various centers across India and abroad.
This examination will be held in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Assamese, Kannada, and Odia.

Fee Refund Process and No Additional Payment for Re-examination
The NTA has informed candidates that a separate module for submitting bank account details—for the purpose of refunding the examination fee—will be made available by May 21, 2026.
The agency has also clarified that candidates will not be required to pay any additional fee to appear in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.
Current Address and Examination City Preference Update Window
Candidates who wish to change their preferred examination city due to relocation or a change in their current address may do so through the official website until 11:50 PM on May 21, 2026.
The NTA has clarified that examination centers are allotted based on the city selection made by the candidates and the availability of centers. Therefore, the center allotted for the re-examination may differ from the center originally allotted. The agency further noted that the allocation of centers based on city selection is done randomly.
Medium of Examination Remains UnchangedThe NTA has clarified that the medium of examination selected during the original application process is final and cannot be changed at this stage.
Addressing complaints regarding the unavailability of options for selecting examination cities, the agency stated that this issue is linked to the specific medium of instruction chosen, as certain mediums are available only in specific states and locations, as outlined in the NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin.
An Additional 15 minutes will be Allotted for Verification-related Formalities.
The agency conducting the examination clarified that the additional 15 minutes incorporated into the duration of the exam are intended for documentation, verification, and other pre-examination formalities.
Complaints Regarding Previous Examination Centers
Candidates who faced inconvenience or encountered center-related issues during the examination held on May 3 are advised to submit their complaints, accompanied by supporting documents, to the NTA Helpdesk at neetug2026@nta.ac.in.
No Changes to the Re-examination Date
Responding to concerns regarding potential clashes with other examinations, the NTA stated that the re-examination date of June 21 has already been finalized and will not be subject to any changes.
