Registration for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2026 is now open as announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), October 10. Interested students who meet the eligibility criteria can submit their application form for AISSEE 2026 via the official websites: nta.ac.in or exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society.

The upcoming AISSEE 2026 entrance exam is the gateway to securing admission in Sainik Schools and new Sainik Schools for the academic session of 2026-27, for both Class 6 and Class 9 students all over India. Please note that October 30, 2025, marks the deadline to submit your application for this exam. In case of any errors in your application details, you will have the opportunity to make corrections from November 2 to November 4, 2025.

In accordance with the official notification, the AISSEE 2026 assessment will take place in a traditional, written format during January of that year. The allotted time for Class 6 candidates will be 150 minutes, while Class 9 students will have 180 minutes to complete the exam. Results for AISSEE 2026 can be expected within four to six weeks following the assessment.

The following are the main highlights:

  • The registration period will commence on October 10, 2025.
  • Application Deadline: October 30, 2025
  • Please note that the application correction window will be open from November 2nd to November 4th, 2025.
  • Please note that the deadline for fee payment is October 31, 2025.
  • The month of the upcoming exam is January 2026.
  • The use of pen and paper is required in this mode of operation.
  • The declaration of results will take place 4–6 weeks after the exam.

Eligibility Criteria for Class 6 Admission (69 New Sainik Schools)

Students seeking admission to Class 6 have two options available to them - Category A (40% route) and Category B (60% route).

Category A (40% Route): Applicants must meet the age requirement of being between 10 and 12 years old as of March 31, 2026. Their birth date must fall within the range of April 1, 2014, to March 31, 2016 (inclusive).

Applicants of all genders are welcome to apply in this category. Nevertheless, it is recommended that candidates verify the seat availability for girls on the website of the respective New Sainik School before submitting their application.

For Category B (60% Route), students must fall within the age range of 10 to 12 as of March 31, 2026. This means being born sometime between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2016 (including both dates).

Both males and females are eligible to apply. They must be either currently enrolled in or have graduated from Class 5 at an approved New Sainik School of their choice.

Eligibility Criteria for Class 9 Admission (19 New Sainik Schools)

Class 9 applicants have the option to apply for admission via either Category A (40% route) or Category B (60% route), depending on the number of open spots.

Category A (40% Route): This option is available for both male and female students who have completed Class 8 at a Sainik School. Admission is subject to availability, as 40% of the seats will already be filled. Applicants must be between the ages of 13 and 15 as of March 31, 2026, with a birthdate falling within the range of April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2013 (inclusive). They should also have successfully passed Class 8 at a recognized school prior to admission.

For the 60% quota, Category B is available for both boys and girls who have completed Class 8 in a Sainik School. To secure admission, candidates must fulfill the age requirement of being between 13 and 15 years old as of March 31, 2026. Their date of birth must fall between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2013 (inclusive). Additionally, they should be currently studying in or have passed Class 8 from the specific New Sainik School they wish to attend.

How to Apply Online for AISSEE 2026: Step-by-Step Guide

🧾 Register: Select “AISSEE 2026 Registration” → Enter basic information → Receive Application Number & Password.

✍️ Fill Application Form: Complete the Application Form by following these steps: Firstly, login to your account. Then, provide details of your personal information, educational background, and school preferences. Finally, select either Class 6 or 9 for enrollment.

📸 Upload Documents: Please upload the following documents: Recent passport-size photo, signature, and any applicable birth, domicile, or category certificates.

💳 Pay Fee: The fee for General/OBC/Defence/Ex-Servicemen is ₹850 and for SC/ST it is ₹700. Payment can be made through Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI.

✅ Submit & Download: Submit your form and receive a confirmation page and payment receipt upon completion.
