WBJEE 2025 Admissions: OBC Quota Deadline Ends Today – Apply Now

The West Bengal government has extended the last date for admission to undergraduate courses in state-run and aided colleges for the 2025-26 academic session till August 5 (midnight). All students can apply online through the https://wbcap.in portal. The decision comes after the Supreme Court lifted the stay on the OBC list.

The centralized admission portal, launched on July 17, first faced challenges due to the stay of the Calcutta High Court. However, on July 28, the Supreme Court lifted the stay and cleared the way for the resumption of the college admission process.

After this, the state's Higher Education Department had given the facility to students to update their social category information on the portal from July 29.

State Chief Secretary Manoj Pant informed that students can submit or update their social category details on the portal till 12 midnight on August 5. If a student fails to do so within the stipulated time, it will be considered as default and no changes will be considered later.

This year, 460 government and aided colleges under 17 universities have been added to the centralized portal. The results of the state board's higher secondary examination were released on May 7. Online admission can be taken in all these colleges through this portal.

Meanwhile, the result of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is likely to be declared on August 7. The exam was held on April 27, but the result was delayed due to legal proceedings related to the updated list of OBC sub-castes of the state. WBJEE Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee said that in normal circumstances the result would have come in early June, but the court case caused a delay.

On July 29, the Calcutta High Court directed the state government and the WBJEE board to file an affidavit by August 7 and explain the reason for the delay. The order was given on a petition filed by the parent of a student.

If you want to take admission in WBJEE or any graduate course and belong to OBC category, then today's last date is very important for you. Do not delay and update your information on the portal before August 5 midnight.
