You can access the revised information brochure on the official website, gate2024.iisc.ac.in. The GATE 2024 examination is scheduled to take place on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024, in two sessions, namely forenoon and afternoon. This exam will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format.
The admit cards for the GATE 2024 examination will be available starting January 3, 2024. Following the examination, the results are slated to be announced on March 16, and scorecards will be accessible on the official website from March 23 to May 31.
GATE 2024 will feature a total of 30 test papers and will be conducted entirely in English. The question types include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. In MCQs, only one of the four options is correct. In MSQs, one or more options out of four can be correct, while NAT questions require candidates to input answers using a virtual keypad provided on-screen. A virtual calculator will also be available for calculations.
It's important to note that GATE 2024 has a negative marking system for incorrect answers. For 1-mark MCQs, 1/3 of the marks will be deducted for a wrong answer, while for 2-mark MCQs, 2/3 of the marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for incorrect responses to MSQ and NAT questions, and partial marking is not applicable to any question type.
Candidates can opt to appear for one or two test papers, choosing from a list of available combinations. In case new two-paper combinations become available, candidates will have the opportunity to revise their selection and choose test papers with non-conflicting schedules. However, candidates appearing for two test papers must fill out a single application form.
