NEET UG 2026 in Multiple Phases? Parliamentary Panel Proposes NTA Reforms
Parliamentary Standing Committee Suggests Major Changes for NEET 2027 Parliamentary standing committee on education has made recommendations for NEET 2027. It had discussed the concerns related to NEET in its meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
The committee has recommended that the NEET examination should be conducted in multiple phases. In simple terms, NEET will be conducted on multiple days in different states in India. The aim behind conducting NEET in multiple phases is to resolve the logistical problems of a single-day examination.
Panel Suggests Conducting NEET Exam in Multiple Phases
The primary purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on NEET UG changes. The committee deliberated upon NEET in multiple phases and multiple days like JEE Main with the help of officials from the National Testing Agency.
Vineet Joshi, Secretary of Higher Education, and Abhishek Singh, DG of NTA were part of the discussion. Dr K Radhakrishnan has attended the discussion to present his views.
Will NEET 2027 Be Held in Multiple Phases?
During the discussion, they discussed the ban on social media channels as it prevents the leakage of papers during re-NEET 2026 held on June 21. However, it was noted by the panel that conducting a single-day NEET created logistical problems. Hence, they have recommended conducting NEET examination in multiple phases from next year.
Proposed Separate Examinations for MBBS, AYUSH, and Nursing
The parliamentary committee of NEET has proposed a solution for the crowds which come for NEET exams every year. They suggested conducting separate examinations for different streams. For instance, they suggested separate entrance exams for MBBS, AYUSH, and Nursing. However, the NTA has said that it is not possible now.
