Eligibility Criteria for IIT JEE
If you’re aiming to pursue a B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence from top institutions like the IITs, you’ll need to meet certain eligibility criteria set by the authorities.
Educational Qualifications: You must score at least 75% aggregate marks in your Class 12 Board exams, covering at least five subjects. For students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Person with Disability (PwD) categories, the required aggregate is 65%.

Year of Appearance in Qualifying Exam: You’re eligible to take the JEE (Main) 2024 exam if you completed your Class 12 or equivalent exam in 2022 or 2023, or if you’ll be appearing in 2024. While age limits generally don’t apply, you may need to meet specific age requirements set by the institutes you wish to join.
State of Eligibility: Your State code of eligibility for JEE (Main) 2023 is based on where you completed your Class 12 (or equivalent) exam, not where you live. For example, if you completed Class 12 in Delhi but live in Uttar Pradesh, your State code of eligibility is Delhi. If you passed from one state and took improvement exams in another, your original state remains your eligibility code.
For students from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), eligibility is based on where your study center is located. Indian nationals who completed Class 12 in Nepal or Bhutan will use their permanent Indian address for eligibility. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates who studied in India follow the same rules as Indian nationals, but those who studied abroad can only apply for Other State or All India quota seats.
If you’re interested and eligible, you must prepare for the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Mains. To move on to the JEE Advanced exam, you’ll need to rank in the top 2.5 lakh out of the more than 12 lakh candidates who take the JEE Main exam each year. If you qualify for the JEE Advanced exam, you can then aim for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
