West Bengal Board Class 12 Semester 3 Exams Postponed: Check the Revised Schedule

Three exams of the Class 12 Semester III have been rescheduled to be held a week later from their originally scheduled date of October 5, 6 and 7 by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE). This decision has been conveyed in a notification dated September 10.

The rescheduled exams are the only ones that have been delayed, and there is no change in their schedule timings. All three will start at 11 am and end at 12:30 pm.

Revised Exam Schedule for HS Semester III

The October 5 papers now fall on October 12. These cover Mathematics, Business Mathematics and Business Statistics, Basic Mathematics for Social Sciences, Agriculture, Journalism and Mass Communication, Sanskrit, Persian and Arabic.

The October 6 papers now fall on October 13. These include Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Sociology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The October 7 papers now fall on October 14. These are Biological Science, Political Science, and Costing and Taxation. Students taking these papers get one extra week to revise.

The council has stressed that this is a partial revision of the timetable. So students should check the revised notification only for the three affected papers. The rest of the Semester III schedule stays the same as before.

Why the exams moved

This move comes following the declaration of byelections in two assembly constituencies of West Bengal, Nandigram, and Rejinagar. The polling will take place on October 6. It was stated that the conduct of the byelections entails logistics and administration that would otherwise conflict with examination schedules. Shifting these papers would ensure that both events do not clash.

Schools and examination centers are normally used as polling centers while teachers get duty for conducting polls. This is why boards normally arrange to shift examination papers when the poll date falls close.

The schedule and timing of the papers remain the same. Students are advised to check the revised notice from the official WBCHSE website regarding their subject schedules before October 12.
