What Was the Confusion?
NTA had earlier mentioned in the JEE Main 2026 information bulletin that candidates would get an on-screen standard calculator during the computer-based test (CBT). This information created confusion among students. The bulletin also stated that this calculator could be used for basic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and percentage calculations.

NTA Clears the Air
NTA issued a notice on Sunday night clarifying that the mention of an on-screen calculator in the bulletin was due to a "typing error." The agency explained that while their general exam platform has a calculator feature, it's strictly prohibited for use in the JEE Main exam.
In its official notice, NTA stated, "The Information Bulletin for JEE (Main) – 2026 mentioned that an on-screen standard calculator would be available during the CBT. However, this feature is part of the general test conducting platform and doesn't apply to JEE (Main), as the use of calculators in any form isn't permitted in this exam."
NTA has apologized for the inconvenience caused by this typing error and advised students to download the revised information bulletin from the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in.
