CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation Portal Opens Today: How to Apply at cbseit.in, Check Fees and Last Date

Finally, students who are unsatisfied with their scores in the CBSE Class 12 board examination will now have a means to proceed with rechecking of their scores. This is because the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched its rechecking or verification portal today on 1st June 2026. Students eligible for applying for this service can do so through the CBSE official sites at cbse.gov.in and cbseit.in. Fees have been drastically reduced up to 85%.

CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation 2026: Key Update

The portal for post-result activities by CBSE is launched today on the website of the board. Applications for mark verification and rechecking of individual questions can be made through the portal. However, the board has clarified that the applications will be accepted via the portal only and no offline application will be entertained.

It is important to note that the facility is available only to those students who had requested the photocopied copies of the evaluated answer book in their name.

Why Has CBSE Cut Fees by 85%?

In 2026, CBSE introduced the On-Screen Marking system for conducting examinations in which examiners checked digitally scanned answer papers on the computer screen. A majority of students scored below their expectations and got upset at the marks awarded. This is why CBSE has brought down the post-result services charges dramatically.

Revised Fee Structure for 2026

  • Photocopy of answer book: Reduced from ₹700 to ₹100 per subject
  • Verification of marks: Reduced from ₹500 to ₹100 per answer book
  • Re-evaluation of answers: ₹25 per question (refunded if marks increase)

The refund clause on re-evaluation is a welcome relief for students. If a student's marks go up after re-evaluation, the full re-evaluation fee is returned.

What Is the Re-Evaluation Process?

Re-evaluation takes place through a three-step process. In the first step, the candidate asks for a copy of the answer book that has been evaluated. After receiving the copy, the candidate will go through each question with respect to the marking scheme. If any mistakes are observed during totalization or there are any unchecked answers, the candidate can ask for verification. When there are doubts about the awarding of marks in any particular question, the candidate can ask for re-evaluation of that answer sheet.

First of all, the candidate needs to obtain the marking scheme of the respective subject from the CBSE site.

How to Track Your Application Status

Once the application form has been submitted, the status can be tracked online through the website cbse.gov.in. All that needs to be done is to log in by providing the roll number and the application number, and see what the latest status update is. Once the re-evaluation process is completed, the result shall be updated on this website.

The new marks shall appear on the revised mark sheet.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

Re-evaluation will not be an immediate solution to improve poor grades because CBSE will only verify if the original assessment was done in line with the mark scheme. Marks may rise, remain unchanged, or sometimes reduce during re-assessment. Therefore, one should apply for re-assessment for only those questions where a mistake is clearly identified.

The application should be made before the deadline expires. Once this period elapses, CBSE will not consider any application made after that. One must retain the acknowledgment slip and application number until the final decision is made.

Last Date and Final Tip

It becomes mandatory for the students to keep track of the latest deadline announced by CBSE for submitting applications for re-checking their question papers. The board usually allows just a few days for the purpose of each level, so procrastination could mean losing out on a big opportunity.

Most of the time, marks of students do not change even after going through re-checking. However, those students who have good reasons to suspect any mistake in their marks should take advantage of the system.
