CBSE Class 12 Result 2026: Improvement Exam in 1 Subject, Supplementary in July

Following the declaration of the Class 12 results for the 2025-2026 session, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the schedule for the supplementary exams.

The supplementary exams will be held on July 15, 2026, in a single day. A total of 1,63,800 students have been placed in the compartment category for CBSE Class 12 this year. Last year, the number stood at 1,29,095 students, and in 2024, it was 1,22,170.

Apart from compartment candidates, students who have passed the CBSE Class 12 exams but want to improve their marks in one subject can also apply for the supplementary exams.

CBSE LOC Submission 2026: Date and Process

For eligible students, the online submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) will begin on June 2, 2026.

CBSE has made it clear that the LOC must be filled out online. No changes — like adding or deleting subjects or names — will be allowed once the submission is finalised.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2026: Who Can Apply?

The Board has listed three main categories of students who can appear for the July exams:

Performance Improvement: Students who passed Class 12 in 2026 but want to improve their performance in a single subject.

Compartment Candidates: Students who appeared in the 2026 main exams and were placed in the compartment category.

Previous Year Compartment Candidates: Students from the 2025 session who are using their final of three chances to clear the compartment exam.

Important Note for Students

CBSE has advised schools and students to stick to the deadlines, as no applications will be accepted after the closing dates. A detailed circular about the process is expected to be released shortly.

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026: A Quick Look at the Numbers

The supplementary exam dates come right after the release of the main exam results, which recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.20%.

Performance data shows that girls outperformed boys by 6.73%, with a pass rate of 88.86% compared to 82.13% for boys.

On the regional front, Trivandrum led the country with a pass percentage of 95.62%, followed by Chennai at 93.84% and Bengaluru at 93.19%.
