CBSE Promotes Digital Payments in Schools: Check New Guidelines and Measures
CBSE has issued an advisory for promoting digital transactions in schools. The advisory from CBSE can be accessed on the CBSE official website, cbse.gov.in.
As per the advisory, the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, has come up with a detailed plan to promote digital transactions across the country. The plan seeks to increase awareness about digital payments and make digital payment methods safer and more convenient.
The plan focuses on the educational sector that includes schools, students, and parents. CBSE has recommended certain steps that should be taken by schools to facilitate digital transactions.
CBSE Guidelines to Promote Digital Payments in Schools
Universal Digital Payment Infrastructure
Payment methods through digital mode can be introduced by the schools, including UPI and RuPay card. This can be done at various places of payments which include fees for the school, school canteens, library and other similar services.
In case there is an absence of connectivity at such locations, then the schools can think of various modes of UPI including UPI Lite, UPI LiteX, and UPI 123PAY.
BBPS Integration for Fee Payments
The schools could also adopt the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) to facilitate fee payments. The Bharat Bill Payment System offers a standardized, secure, and interoperable payment system.
The schools could connect the payment system to their ERPs to facilitate recurring payments such as salary payments.
Digital Payment Awareness and Literacy
CBSE has also recommended that the schools ensure that the awareness about digital payments and financial literacy is spread amongst the teachers, students, and parents.
The schools can incorporate the awareness regarding digital payments as part of the teacher’s training programme. Financial literacy programmes about digital payments can also be undertaken.
The awareness campaign can be conducted on the campus of the schools, within the school events, and even during the meetings of the parents and teachers.
