This Schedule Applies Only to Winter-Bound Schools
It is quite clear from the board that this timeline and these guidelines have been drawn up only for the winter-bound schools. In case your school is following the regular academic session, then these dates do not apply to your school just now. CBSE will be coming out with a circular for the regular sessions school later on, and only when that happens should students and teachers start planning for their examinations.
Only LOC-Listed Students Can Appear for Practicals
According to CBSE, all the schools should create the final list of the candidates even before the commencement of exams. Only those candidates, whose names are included in the List of Candidates (LOC) available on the website, would be allowed to appear for practicals, projects, and internal assessment.
In case your name is not in the LOC, then you will not be allowed to write the exam. There is a need to verify the LOC in the schools to ensure that no eligible candidate gets excluded. There should not be any error in the LOC and in case of any error, it must be rectified before the start of the exam session.
Class 10 Internal Assessment Happens Only Once
It is confirmed by the board that the internal assessment for Class 10 will happen just once in this examination cycle. There won’t be any scope to attempt the assessment again or have a second shot at it. It is essential that all schools complete this process and upload the marks for all candidates within the deadline provided by CBSE.
Teachers need to prepare an assessment calendar ahead of time such that no student misses out on getting assessed on time. Delaying in uploading marks could cause problems for your final result. As a Class 10 student, do not miss out on any assessment day.
How Schools Should Manage Large Batches
If a school has more than 30 students appearing for a practical exam, it can't test everyone in a single session. CBSE has instructed such schools to split practical exams and project assessments into two or three sessions per day. The exact number of sessions will depend on the lab space and equipment available at the school.
A school which possesses adequate laboratory facilities may conduct only two sessions. In the case of schools where there is less infrastructure available, three sessions will be conducted. This is done in order to ensure that each and every student gets sufficient time and adequate opportunity to work with laboratory apparatus during the examination period. Conducting a large number of students in one session may affect the standard and integrity of the examination.
Batch Photographs Are Now Mandatory
The CBSE has made it mandatory for all the schools to upload pictures of the practical examination and assessment sessions. This is a transparency tool that the CBSE is now mandating. The CBSE will provide you with an app link that you need to use only for this purpose. Using this link, the school has to upload a group picture of each batch appearing for the practical examination.
This step cannot be avoided nor any other alternative mode used for submission of the pictures. Pictures help in proving the conduct of the examination and presence of the right candidates in the examination. It is important that the pictures should be clear and all the candidates of that batch should appear in them.
What Students at Winter-Bound Schools Should Do Now
For the students of class 10th and 12th in winter season schools, you should first verify from your school whether your name has been registered in the LOC or not. You must know about your practical examination dates as well as the subjects for which you have to appear.
Stay in touch with your teachers for any last-minute changes to the schedule. The exam window is tight at just about six weeks, so there isn't much room for delays. Prepare your practical files, lab notebooks and project reports well ahead of your exam date. Don't leave anything for the last week.
The Practical Exam timetable for the students in regular sessions will be announced by CBSE in a different notice shortly. Students in the regular sessions can check their notifications on the official CBSE website or they can ask their school authorities to notify them as soon as the circular is released.
