GATE 2027 Application Delayed Again: IIT Madras Revises the Schedule

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has delayed the beginning of the GATE 2027 application procedure for the second time. Though the registration portal was supposed to open on August 27, 2026, following the previous delay, the applicants have not yet been able to register for the same. As per IIT Madras, which is organizing GATE 2027, the new dates for registration will be declared shortly.

Initially, the registration dates were planned to begin from August 14, 2026. However, it postponed the registration dates to August 27. It has not provided any reason for the above-stated postponement yet.

Moreover, the deadlines at the opposite end of the application process have also been altered. According to the new dates, you will be able to apply for GATE 2027 using the standard fee till September 27, 2026. Should you fail to meet the deadline, you will be allowed to fill the form with late fee till October 5, 2026.

Any further changes will be announced on the official website, so it's worth checking it regularly.

GATE 2027 Application Form: New Dates

You have to fill the GATE exam form through the GOAPS portal. The registration start date is postponed, and the new date will be updated once IIT Madras announces it. The last dates, however, remain unchanged:

GATE 2027 application form start date: To be announced
Last date to apply with regular fee: September 27, 2026
Last date to apply with late fee: October 5, 2026

Make sure that you have the appropriate device before proceeding. You need a computer with a webcam or a smartphone that has a minimum of 5 MP for the reason that there is facial verification in the form.

How to Fill the GATE 2027 Application Form

First, sign up for the GOAPS 2027 portal via the official website. The portal will provide you with an enrolment ID and password that you will use each time you login. These are the steps:

Access the official website gate2027.iitm.ac.in
Connect your DigiLocker account
Sign in with your enrolment ID and password
Enter your personal information
Upload all necessary documents along with the payment of the GATE examination fee
Submit the form and keep a copy with you

Note: Connecting to the DigiLocker account fetches your verified documents directly from your account, thus, helping you to save a lot of manual effort.
