GATE 2027 Registration Starts Today; Check Apply Online Process, Fee and Important Dates

The IIT Madras GATE 2027 registration process has been released by the institute. The link to fill the application form for the GATE exam will be made available on the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in, on 2nd September 2026 at 7 PM.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance test that is being held at the national level for students wishing to join M.Tech/Ph.D. programs. The GATE score is also used for PSU recruitment in various organizations.

Those who are pursuing the 3rd year or final year in B.E/B.Tech or have completed an equivalent degree from engineering/architecture/science/art/humanities are eligible to appear in the GATE exam.

For GATE 2027 registration process, applicants are supposed to register themselves on the GOAPS website, perform e-KYC using DigiLocker and facial recognition, upload necessary documents, fill up academic information, choose papers and cities for examination and submit the requisite application fee.

GATE 2027 Registration Date and Schedule

As per the schedule released by IIT Madras, the GATE 2027 registration process will begin on September 2, 2026. Before filling out the application form, candidates need to update their DigiLocker account for identity verification.

The application process will continue until September 27, 2026, without a late fee. Candidates who miss the deadline can submit their forms with a late fee until October 5, 2026.

How to Apply for GATE 2027 Registration through GOAPS Portal

These guidelines can be followed by the candidates while filling out the GATE 2027 application form:

• Access the official GOAPS website gate2027.iitm.ac.in and create a new registration account.
• Verify yourself via DigiLocker and perform the face recognition procedure.
• Provide your personal information such as your name, date of birth, address, category, and contact details.
• Enter the qualifying examination information along with the name of the institute from where you passed and the year of passing.
• Choose the GATE paper, second paper (if any), and select the cities of preference to take the exam.
• Submit the scanned copies of your photograph, signature, photo ID proof, and category/PwD certificate (if applicable).
• Double-check everything and pay the application fee. You can then download the confirmation receipt.
• The candidates must ensure that their registered email ID and phone number stay active during the entire admission process.
