The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has reinstated the earlier eligibility criterion for JEE Advanced, limiting candidates to two attempts. Previously, JAB had announced three attempts in three consecutive years, but this decision was reversed during the board meeting on November 15, 2024.

Criteria | Details |
Performance in JEE (Main) 2025 | Top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in BE/BTech Paper 1 of JEE Main 2025. |
Category-wise Distribution | Open: 1,01,250, General-EWS: 25,000, OBC-NCL: 67,500, SC: 37,500, ST: 18,750. Total may exceed 2,50,000 due to ties. |
Age Limit | Born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get a five-year age relaxation. |
Class 12 Appearance | Must have appeared in Class 12 (or equivalent) for the first time in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. |
Earlier IIT Admissions | Candidates admitted to an IIT or whose admission was canceled after joining are not eligible. Exceptions include those admitted to a preparatory course in 2024 or candidates who did not report/withdraw before the last JoSAA round. |
Important Notes
- JEE Main Screening Test: Candidates must qualify in JEE Main 2025 to be eligible for JEE Advanced.
- Application Deadline: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed no extension of the JEE Main application deadline. The last date to apply was September 22, 2024.
- Correction Window: NTA will allow corrections to JEE Main forms between November 26-27, 2024.
The revised criteria align with the pre-2013 eligibility rules, ensuring fair competition among aspirants.
