JEE Main 2026 Registration Closed: What To Do If You Missed It or Made Mistakes

The National Testing Agency (NTA) closed the registration window for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 on November 27.

Candidates could register for the engineering entrance exam until 5 pm. The official website to register for JEE Main Session 1 was jeemain.nta.nic.in.

However, for many candidates who either missed the deadline or made mistakes in their submitted applications, the days following the closure of the registration window often bring anxiety and confusion.

The NTA will open the JEE Main application correction window on December 1.

What Happens After the Correction Window?

Once corrections are done, NTA will release the advance city intimation slip. This slip tells you which city has been allotted for your exam.

After that, JEE Main Session 1 admit cards will be released. Your admit card will contain important details like:

• Exam date
• Shift timing
• Allotted city and exam centre

Check all details on your admit card thoroughly. If your centre is in another city, start planning your travel and stay in advance.

Missed the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Deadline? Don't Worry

If you couldn't apply for Session 1, there's still hope. NTA conducts JEE Main in two sessions every year. Session 2 registrations will open in early January 2026.

This second window allows:

• Fresh candidates to register for the first time
• Session 1 candidates to attempt again for score improvement

JEE Main 2026 Session Timeline

Missing Session 1 doesn't disqualify you from JEE Main. Many students actually prefer appearing only in Session 2. This gives them more time to prepare, align with board exams, or simply feel more comfortable.

Your final score will be the best of both attempts. This score is used for admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and for JEE Advanced eligibility.

While Session 2 is a valid backup, skipping Session 1 has some downsides:
