On April 25, 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results for the JEE Main 2024 session 2. Candidates can view their IIT JEE Main results 2024 by entering their application number and date of birth. Those who qualify will be among the top 2,50,000 candidates eligible for the JEE Advanced exam. The NTA JEE Mains result 2024 session 2 also includes information on All India Rank (AIR) and percentile.

NTA adopts a unique method to calculate the JEE Main 2024 percentile. Here's how it's done:

JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Result - How to Calculate Percentile

NTA will calculate the percentile score for each subject and in total. The formula for calculating the percentile score is listed below:

Percentile Formula
Total Percentile (100 x Number of candidates with raw score ≤ T1) / Total Number of candidates who appeared for the exam
Mathematics Percentile (100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score ≤M1 score in Mathematics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared for the exam
Physics Percentile (100 x Number of candidates with raw score ≤ P1 in Physics)/ Total No. of candidates who appeared for the exam
Chemistry Percentile (100 x Number of candidates with raw score ≤ C1 in Chemistry) / Total No. of candidates who appeared for the exam

JEE Main Marks vs Percentile vs Rank: Tie Breaker Guidelines

Tie Breaker Guidelines: These guidelines come into effect when two or more candidates score the same percentage of marks. The difference-in-merit is determined in the following order

  • Candidates scoring higher percentage of marks in Mathematics will be given higher rank.
  • Candidates who score higher percentage of marks in Physics will be given higher JEE Main Rank 2024.
  • Candidates scoring higher percentage score in Chemistry will get higher rank.
  • Older candidates will be given preference.

The JEE Main exam took place on April 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 12, with approximately 12.57 lakh students participating. NTA conducted the test in two sessions, in January and April 2024, with over 24 lakh registrations across both sessions. JEE Main 2024 Session 1 was held between January 24 and February 1.
