The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a top national entrance exam run by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission into their MBA programs. Every year, more than 250,000 candidates compete to secure a spot at prestigious schools like IIM. While scoring well on the CAT is crucial for getting into these top business schools, there are other pathways to consider.
One alternative is the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA). This program is offered by IIM Calcutta, IIM Kharagpur, and the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). Unlike many MBA programs, the PGDBA does not require CAT scores. Instead, candidates need to take the PGDBA Admission Test.
Overview of the PGDBA Course
The PGDBA is a two-year, full-time residential program. Students will spend six months at each of the three institutions: IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur, and ISI Kolkata. The program covers a range of topics including Business Analytics, Marketing Management, and Computing for Data Sciences. This curriculum is designed to equip students with valuable skills for the job market.
Graduates of the PGDBA program enjoy excellent placement opportunities, with median salaries between 28 and 32 lakhs per annum. This program provides a strong foothold in both Indian and global businesses.
PGDBA Course 2024: Admission Process
To get into the PGDBA program, candidates do not need to take the CAT. Instead, they must pass the PGDBA Admission Test 2024. Here’s a look at the admission process:
- Shortlisting: Candidates are initially shortlisted for a Personal Interview (PI) based on their PGDBA Admission Test performance.
- Gender Diversity: Women and transgender candidates receive an additional two marks during shortlisting, but these marks do not affect the final selection score.
Final Selection Criteria
The final selection for the PGDBA 2024-26 batch is based on a composite score, which includes:
- PGDBA Admission Test Score: 45%
- Personal Interview (PI): 40%
- Class XII Marks: 8%
- Work Experience: 7%
All aspects, including academic scores and work experience, are taken into account for the final merit list.
