The state government has provided significant relief to students affected by the recent floods in Maharashtra. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the deadline for filing the Maharashtra Board 2026 Class 12 (HSC) exam forms has been extended to October 20, 2025.
Due to the devastating floods, many students were unable to fill their Class 12 exam forms on time. Numerous students and parents called the Deputy Chief Minister to express their concerns. Books and study materials were destroyed in the floods, causing difficulties for students.
In light of this situation, Shinde spoke with Education Minister Dada Bhuse and decided to extend the deadline.
Students Get Relief
This decision will bring relief to thousands of students. They will now be able to fill their exam forms and focus on their studies without any additional pressure. This step will ensure that no student is deprived of their exams solely due to the natural disaster.
Flood-affected areas
Heavy rains and flooding continue in several districts of Maharashtra—Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and the Marathwada region.
- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in several districts.
- Rehabilitation plans have been prepared for 42 riverside villages in Thane district.
- Thousands of people have been evacuated to relief camps in Solapur and Beed districts so far.
Government relief and rescue arrangements
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the affected districts and reviewed the relief operations.
- More than 4,000 people have been evacuated so far.
- More than 6,500 people are living in relief camps, where food, water, and health services are being provided.
- Affected families are being provided with interim relief of ₹10,000 in cash, 10 kg of rice, and 10 kg of wheat.
- The supply of fodder for animals has also been initiated.
Message for Students and Parents
The government has clarified that all officials are on alert and necessary steps are being taken to ensure that students' studies are not affected. The examination form filling process will now remain open until October 20. Students have been urged to fill the forms on time and regularly check the notices available on the official website.
