Maharashtra Schools Reopening For Classes 1 to 12: On Thursday, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that schools in the state are now allowed to reopen for physical classes. Schools can be resumed across the Maharashtra state for pre-primary to class 12th from January 24, 2022. Regarding this the minister said local authorities can examine the COVID situations and then take the final call to resume the offline classes.

The minister also mentioned that teachers and parents were in support that schools should be reopened for physical classes but online education should also continue along with that.

She further added, Consent of parents is important for students’ attendance and requested the parents to not send their child to school if they are unwell. Also, schools are directed to ensure all the facilities in case any student shows symptoms.

COVID Cases On The Day Of Announcement

The day when the minister announced the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 12th, the Maharashtra state recorded 46, 197 fresh covid cases including omicron infections. Also, 37 deaths were also recorded on that day.

However, the minister said that the students' education along with their health and safety is the first concern for the government and to achieve this schools will strictly follow the SOPs when they will open.

Masks are mandatory to wear to all the students and teachers.
