NEET UG 2024 Counselling Update: MCC Revises Stray Round Eligibility – Official Notice Inside

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has updated eligibility requirements for participating in the NEET UG 2024 Stray Vacancy Round. In an official notice, MCC clarified who can join this round and who cannot. They’ve also added one additional seat to the round.

The notice states, “In compliance with court directions by the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam in W.P No. 36967 of 2024, Namitha C. N vs Medical Counselling Committee & Ors., one seat at Sri Lakshmi Narayan Institute of Medical Science, Kudapakkam Post, Villianur, Puducherry (Institute Code-200380) has been added to the Stray Vacancy Round for NEET UG Counselling, 2024.”

NEET UG 2024 Stray Vacancy Round: Eligibility Criteria

Eligible: Candidates who aren’t holding any seat in either All India or State Quota can participate.
Not Eligible: Candidates who didn’t join their seats in Round-3 through MCC are barred from participating.
Eligible: Candidates marked ‘Not Reported’ in Round-3 of NEET counselling can join the Stray Vacancy Round.
Not Eligible: Candidates who have taken State Quota seats in earlier rounds cannot participate.

The notice further mentions, “Candidates who don’t join their allotted seats in the Stray Vacancy Round will lose their Security Deposit and be barred from taking the NEET exam next year. MCC will share data of candidates who joined in Round-3 with state counselling authorities, and these candidates will be prohibited from admission in state quota counselling.”
