NEET UG 2024: MCC Offers Seat Resignation Option for Round 1, 2 Students

The Medical Counsel Committee (MCC) has allowed students who received seats in the first two rounds of NEET UG counselling 2024 to resign. If you want to resign, make sure to do it before October 1.

This decision was shared on the MCC's official website after many students asked for the option. The notice states, “Candidates who wish to leave their round-1 or round-2 seats can do so until 5 PM on October 1, 2024.”

Rules for Resigning NEET UG Counselling Seats

Round 1 Candidates: If you did not upgrade in round 2, you can resign without losing your security deposit by the deadline.
Round 2 Candidates: If you accepted your seat in round 2 but now want to resign, you will have to pay a penalty on your security deposit. This must be done by October 1.
Upgraded Candidates: If you accepted an upgraded seat in round 2 but want to resign, you will lose your security deposit by the deadline.
Important Note: You need to generate your resignation letter online through the MCC portal with help from your allotted college. If you don’t do this, your resignation request will not be accepted.

To complete the resignation process, you must visit your allotted college in person.

The MCC announced the NEET UG round 2 seat allotment results for 2024 on September 19. The deadline to report to your college is September 27. This schedule was updated after new seats were added by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Every year, MCC conducts NEET UG counselling in four stages for 15% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats in MBBS and BDS programs at both government and private medical and dental colleges.
