Around 12.36 lakh students have qualified the NEET UG 2025 exam, who will compete for about 1,15,900 MBBS seats in government, private and other medical colleges across the country. It is clear from these figures that only one in every ten students will be able to get admission in MBBS. This is why it is very important to participate in the counselling process after understanding the seat matrix thoroughly.
A total of 775 medical colleges are offering MBBS this year. In the seat matrix released by MCC, these institutions are divided according to their type of management. It includes more than 400 government medical colleges, 32 private colleges, 13 government (society) colleges, 44 society-run colleges and more than 250 trust-run colleges. All these colleges provide seats for the MBBS course.
However, there are some colleges where no approved MBBS seats are available. These colleges include institutes like Gayatri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care and Medical Technology (Visakhapatnam), Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences (Raipur), Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences (Delhi), Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences (Gujarat), Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (Karnataka), Index Medical College (Indore), Geetanjali Medical College (Udaipur), Father Colombo Institute (Warangal) and National Capital Region Institute of Medical Sciences (Meerut).
The result of NEET UG 2025 Round 1 seat allotment will be declared on July 31, 2025. After this, the selected candidates will have to report to their respective colleges from August 1 to August 6, 2025. The institutes will verify the documents of the students on August 7 and 8.
The MCC has directed all the colleges and institutes to strictly follow the counseling schedule. Keeping in mind the limited time of the counseling process, it has been ordered to consider Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as working days. This will ensure that all the stages can be completed on time.
Students who have cleared NEET UG 2025 are advised to read the seat matrix released by MCC carefully and understand all the details thoroughly before choosing a college. Only by participating in counseling with the right plan can students decide the direction of their medical career.
