While filling out the online application forms for NEET UG 2026, candidates were given the option to select three convenient cities as examination centers, listed in their order of preference—with the exception of certain cases where, based on address criteria, only one or two options might have been available. The selection of examination cities was restricted to the state corresponding to the candidate's permanent address or current address.
For their convenience, candidates could select cities within their own district or neighboring cities within their state—where their permanent or current address is located—thereby avoiding the need to travel to distant cities.
The cities allotted by the NTA are determined based on administrative, technical, and logistical feasibility. Candidates may be allotted centers located outside their preferred locations and may, therefore, be required to travel to a different city. The NTA reserves the right to allot any city or center to any candidate.
Although every possible effort will be made to allot a center in one of the cities chosen by the candidate, the NTA reserves the right to allot a center in a city other than those preferred by the candidate. This was stated in the NEET UG 2026 Information Brochure, which further noted that due consideration would be given to the convenience and comfort of all candidates—including those with disabilities—while allotting NEET UG examination centers.
