NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund Process Starts Today — NTA Asks Candidates to Submit Bank Details
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched an online module today, May 21, for the refund of the NEET UG 2026 examination fee. Candidates can now claim a refund of the examination fee paid previously by submitting their bank account details through a dedicated portal.
The NTA has also confirmed that students will not be required to pay any additional fee for the upcoming re-examination. This refund applies to candidates who had registered for the original NEET UG 2026 examination scheduled for May 3, which was subsequently cancelled.
How to Submit Bank Details for the NEET UG 2026 Refund
The NTA has activated a dedicated refund module on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates must follow the steps outlined below:
- Visit neet.nta.nic.in and log in using your application credentials.
- Navigate to the section for submitting bank details.
- Carefully enter your valid bank account information.
- Submit the details to complete the refund request.
Ensure that the bank account is held in your name and that the information provided is accurate. Any discrepancy may lead to delays in receiving your refund.
Why is the NEET UG 2026 Re-examination Being Conducted?
The re-examination was announced following the NTA's decision to cancel the original NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3. The decision to cancel was taken after serious allegations regarding paper leaks and other irregularities came to light.
More than 22 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the re-examination. This examination will be conducted in a pen-and-paper mode on June 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.
Medium of Examination Cannot Be Changed
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified in its official FAQ document that the medium of examination selected during the application process is final. Candidates cannot change their language preference at this stage.
Deadline for Changing the Exam City Expires Tonight
Candidates who have relocated or wish to change their preferred city for the examination can still update this information via the official NTA website. However, this process will conclude today—May 21, 2026—at 11:50 PM.
The NTA has also informed candidates that the examination center allotted for the re-examination may differ from the center originally allotted. The allotment of the center will depend on the city selected by you and the availability of seats in nearby centers.
