NEET UG 2026: Supreme Court Agrees to Urgent Hearing on OMR Sheet Discrepancy Plea

The Supreme Court has agreed to take up the urgent petition filed for intervention in relation to a possible error in the OMR sheet in the case of NEET UG 2026 examination. The petitioner claims that there are discrepancies in the OMR sheets and seeks preservation of the original examination papers that are currently in possession of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

As per reports from LiveLaw, a bench led by Justice PS Narasimha will hear the case on October 15. The petition was brought to the notice of the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, and Justice Joymalya Bagchi on October 14, with the counsel seeking an early hearing for the case due to the looming deadline for the preservation of examination papers.

It has been contended that the NTA would be destroying the original examination papers once the 90-day window for retaining them expires. In view of the same, the petitioner has asked the Supreme Court to intervene and preserve the papers.
