All States Decision on Class 12th Board Exam 2021: Know Which State Support or Oppose

Currently India is dealing with the second wave of COVID and due to this many states and CBSE have postponed the class 12th board exams. However, recently on May 23 (Sunday), 2021, a high level meeting was held to discuss regarding class 12th board exam conduction.

This meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and from all the states education minister and secretaries were invited to attend the meeting. 

They have discussed the issue and came up with the conclusion that the Class 12th Board exam is a very important class for students. Because higher education, professional courses and career is dependent upon class 12th board exam result. Hence, exams should be taken with considering the safety majors of students. 

Although in this meeting, only 90% states agreed to conduct the class 12th board exam. Below is the list of states with their ministers' opinions on class 12th board exam.

States Opinions on Class 12th Board Exams

• Delhi

The capital of India Delhi’s Education Minister and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia directly addressed, Delhi's government is against the class 12th Board Examination, Because the situation is not favourable at this moment. He also said the Center should focus on vaccinating the children. 

• Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu government is in favour of conducting the class 12th board exam. TN Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamohzi mentioned that class 12th plays an important role in a student's future career. Hence, passing all students without taking examinations has no point at all.

• Goa

Goa State's government is yet to take the final decision on class 12th board examination. However the class 10th board examination has already been canceled.

• Punjab

Punjab state is also in favour of exam conduction, they asked for the most appropriate safety way for conducting the class 12th examination. However, PSEB Officials are considering taking examinations for only major subjects.

• West Bengal

The final decision for the board exam is likely to be in the next week. However, the WB states haven't cancelled any board exam.

• Uttar Pradesh

UP government has not cancelled any board exams yet. And they are ready to conduct the board exam very soon. Final dates for the exam are likely to be announced by this month’s end. Deputy CM, Dinesh Sharma has said that the question papers have been printed and exam centers are allotted. 

• Odisha

Odisha is currently facing Cyclone Yaas and the final decision for the board exam is yet left to take. Final decision is expected to be taken after passing the cyclone situation.

• Gujarat

Education Minister of Gujarat Bhupendrasinh Chudasama mentioned that the exam will be conducted once the COVID situation will be better in the country. Although, the idea of reducing the exam duration is considerable.

• Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh board class 12th examination will be organised from June 1st. The board has their own unique way to conduct the examination. As per the CGBSE, Students will have to collect their question sheet and papers for writing the answer from the allotted exam centers and students will have to submit their answer sheet latest by June 5.

• Jharkhand 

Jharkhan CM Hemant Soren has said that conducting class 12th board exams is not ideal at this moment. Because as per the suggestion of stakeholders of the states maintaining adequate social distancing during the examination is not possible.

• Maharashtra 

Maharashtra Schools Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had said, no-exam route should be taken and students should be evaluated on the basis of retroactive assessment model. As of now the board has not taken any final decision for Maharashtra class 12th board exam.

• Karnataka 

Karnataka Education Minister Suresh Kumar has mentioned that conducting Karnataka PUC Board exam 2021 is extremely important because the future of students are dependent on this class. The government will take the final decision regarding class 12th exam very soon by keeping in mind the centre's suggestions.

• Kerala

The Kerala government is focused on vaccinating children before taking the exams. Kerala government wants to ensure all safety measures for conducting the examination smoothly.
