IIM Calcutta has released the provisional answer key for CAT 2024 on December 3, 2024. Candidates who took the exam can now check the answer key on the official website. This gives them a chance to see how they did before the final results come out in January 2025.

To access the answer key, candidates need to log in with their CAT application ID and password. The Objection Management window opened at 6:00 PM on December 3, 2024, and will stay open until 11:55 PM on December 5, 2024. If candidates think any answer in the key is wrong, they can raise an objection by paying Rs. 1200 per question. IIM Calcutta will review all objections and release the final answer key after making any necessary changes.

To challenge the answer key, candidates need to visit the Objection Management portal on the official CAT website. They can select the question(s) they want to challenge and pay a fee of Rs. 1200 per question. The last chance to raise objections is 11:55 PM on December 5, 2024. Once all objections are reviewed, IIM Calcutta will release the final answer key.

The CAT 2024 exam took place on November 24, 2024, at 389 centres across 170 cities in India. The exam had 68 questions, divided into three parts: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) with 24 questions, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) with 22 questions, and Quantitative Ability (QA) with 22 questions. The exam lasted 120 minutes, with extra time given to PwD candidates.

Out of the 3.29 lakh candidates who registered for the exam, 2.93 lakh appeared for CAT 2024, which means around 89% attended. Of those who took the exam, 1.07 lakh were female, 1.86 lakh were male, and 5 were transgender. The final results for CAT 2024 will be released in the second week of January 2025. Candidates who do well will be eligible for admission to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other top schools for their programs.
