CAT Notification 2024 :  Important Dates, Exam Pattern, Registration, Fees & Eligibility Criteria

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has released the notification for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. As per the notice, the online application process for Common Admission Test 2024 will begin on August 1, 2024 at 10 am. Candidates will be able to register themselves for CAT 2024 on the official candidate portal iimcat.ac.in.

The registration will open on August 01, 2024 at 10:00 AM and close on September 13, 2024 at 5:00 PM.

The CAT exam is taken by over 3 lakh students every year and is the most popular exam for MBA admissions in India. Many students try to get into top MBA programs in the country through this exam.

CAT 2024 Key Details

• Organizing Institute: This year, IIM Calcutta will be in charge of the CAT exam, instead of IIM Lucknow.
• Exam Date: The exam will be held on November 24, 2024, which is the last Sunday of the month of November.
• Registration Dates: The registration will open on August 01, 2024 at 10:00 AM and close on September 13, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
• Exam Format: The format will stay mostly the same. The exam will have 66 questions split into three sections: Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation (LRDI), Quantitative Ability (QA), and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC). You will have 2 hours to complete the test, with 40 minutes for each section. You won’t be able to switch sections.
• Admit Card: You can download your CAT 2024 admit card from the official website from November 05 – November 24, 2024.
• Results: The results will be declared in the early second week of January 2025. You will get your marks and know if you have been shortlisted by any of the IIMs you have applied to.
• Question Types: The exam will include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a penalty of 1 mark for wrong answers. There will also be Type-in-the-Answer (TITA) questions that don’t have negative marking.
• On-Screen Calculator: You can use an on-screen calculator for the LRDI and QA sections.

5. Prepare Documents: Keep digital copies of your documents, like mark sheets and photos, ready when filling out the form. Ensure they meet the official requirements.

6. Final Step: Your registration is only complete after you pay the fee and receive a confirmation notice.

1. Education: You need to have completed a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC, ST, and PwD/DA candidates) from a recognized university.

2. Final Year Students: If you’re in the final year of your degree or waiting for your results, you can still apply.

3. Professional Degrees: If you have a professional degree like CA, CS, or ICWA, you can apply as long as you meet the percentage requirement.

4. Age Limit: There’s no age limit for applying, so working professionals can also take the exam.

5. Work Experience: You don’t need work experience to apply, but it can be helpful for admission to IIMs.
